English


In Language,English, students were introduced to the structure of formal letters through various challenging tasks. They attempted a listening comprehension exercise, read two chapters from Escape from the Fire and attempted comprehension exercises based on it.

Mathematics


In Mathematics,students recapitulated 2D and 3D shapes.  They were also introduced to the concept of creating 3 D shapes from 2 D nets. 

 

Unit of Inquiry

In the Unit of Inquiry, students shared their fact cards on different aspects of the Solar System and created a fact wall in the class. Taking help of the fact wall and their fact sheets they attempted their first formative task showing their understanding of the Solar System through any medium of their choice. They talked about the solar and lunar eclipse and moved on to the next line of inquiry ‘ways and means of space exploration’. Students played treasure hunt for various objects used in space travel. They watched a video from BBC about space travel and identified the various objects that could be associated with it. A day long workshop on Space added to their perspective about space travel and rocket launching.

English


In Language,English, students attempted writing a biography about their favourite teacher in primary school. They learnt the skills of planning for an interview and interviewing through this task. They were introduced to ‘idioms’ ad tried their hand at matching idioms with their meanings, identifying them from stories and understanding their meanings and also illustrating them. They read the next two chapters of Escape from the Fire and attempted answering a few questions.

Mathematics



In Mathematics,students were introduced to ‘coordinates’ through a game and power point presentations. Practice was done through online games and plotting sheets. Recapitulation of 2D and 3 D shapes was done. 




UOI


In the Unit of Inquiry, students were introduced to their last unit on the mysteries of the universe. The Trans disciplinary Theme was done through reports based on the strands of the theme and students had to read the reports, write a suitable headline for it and then match it with the strand of the theme. They were also able to identify some more issues that could be looked into through the same strands. They tried their hand at creating the central idea using pictures, words and a video as clues. The concepts and the lines of inquiry were also introduced to them. Prior knowledge assessment was done through ‘Alphabetogories’ and a picture puzzle of the Solar System. Mathematics


In Mathematics,students recapitulated and practiced types of angles and constructing angles. They identified the properties of the three types of triangles through an activity. They practiced angles and triangles in their notebooks. They attempted a mind map on the properties of angles and triangles.
