Mr. Krishnendu Bose’s talk session- Guest speaker for media and its impact on the audience

Grade 4 had an exciting session with Mr Krishnendu Bose and Mr Nandan for our unit on Media under the Transdiciplinary theme ‘How we express ourselves’. Mr Krishnendu Bose, the Managing Trustee of ECO ( Earthcare Outreach Trust) is a documentary filmmaker who specialises in making films on environment conservation and people’s rights. He has been in this field for the past 2 years under the banner of Earthcare Films. At ECO they make children and adults join their trust in exploring limits of their creativity and imagination to create empowered communication around their lives by using visual media. Their special focus is in working with children in the area of environment communication. ECO is a non-profit trust based in India.
The presentations made by Mr Bose was filled with a lot of information and focussed on how different forms of media are used to communicate throughout the world. He showed the students ads created by children. He also showed us a two minute animation on the environment where the students realised that every aspect of the environment has its own importance. The students were able to connect and reflected on the animation well.
The session was truly enriching for all of us as we all understood the fact that we all are driven my media and have our own perspectives to all the different forms of it.
We, at Grade 4 , wish to take this forward and engage children in exploring the different kinds of media and use it to present their understanding.
