English
In Language,English, students attempted comprehension passages, mainly biographies of people. They also attempted an assessment on the usage of adverbs and adjectives and practiced converting adjectives to adverbs. They also enhanced sentences using adjectives, adverbs and prepositional phrases. Loud reading of two chapters of Escape from the Fire was followed by a comprehension task.
Unit of Inquiry
In the Unit of Inquiry, students discussed about the different ways in which the government and media contributed to the Central Idea ‘Biodiversity relies on maintaining the interdependent balance within the ecosystem’. They looked at factors that could contribute to better health and also evaluated the need for a revolution to make a change. Students, in groups, presented their understanding through a conference where they represented people from the government, media, NGOs and health departments. They spoke, debated and thought critically about the present situation and the steps that were necessary. They also reflected on the unit and chose the best samples of work for the SLC portfolio.

UOI
In the Unit of Inquiry, students learnt about different endangered plants and animals through a gallery walk, learning from the research conducted by their classmates. Discussions followed about the reasons responsible and how we, as humans, often cause the imbalance. Students compared the world we live in and the world we wish to live in through illustrations and poems. Discussions with Mr Arvind Chalasani, the Senior School Principal and an environmentalist, broadened their horizon about the little things that we can do to protect the ecosystems around us and maintain the balance of nature. The movie Lorax initiated their formative task ‘ Choose-Act-Reflect’ where they spoke up for one feature of the ecosystem that needed to be protected, determined ways of protecting it and then, looked at how there would be a change as a result of the action.

Mathematics
In Mathematics, students attempted a formative task on negative numbers and symmetry. They recapitulated types of angles: acute, obtuse, right, straight, reflex and complete angleshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgfSwlqi4Qg. They also made connections by understanding complementary and supplementary angles. They were shown how to use a protractor http://www.mathsisfun.com/flash.php?path=%2Fgeometry/images/construct-angle-protractor.swf&w=606&h=516&col=%23FFFFFF&title=Using+a+Protractor . They practiced reading angles using a protractor and also attempted constructing angles using it. Using the website
http://www.mathplayground.com/measuringangles.htmlstudents
can practice using the protractor online. http://resources.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/maths/shapes/angles.htmland
http://www.fruitpicker.co.uk/activity/ will also help
students to practice the concept.
